Today was time to put away camp and get ready for tomorrows departure. I spent the morning surveying this campground for future bookings. I have decided that the sand sites are just too messy and uncomfortable. I went looking for a gravel or concrete pad site that is level, private and plenty of shade. Has several options.
After that I spent the afternoon packing. Worked slowly, the last thing I want is to hurt myself. I finished about 6 and went and cleaned up - man -was I dirty! Then I went for dinner and looked for a place where I could park with my cargo trailer.

I ended up at a place called the Crab Shack right on the beach. Pricey!!!! I ordered a bowl of Seafood gumbo that only had shrimp ( which I love) but it should have had other seafood, too! And I got about 10 good spoonfuls and it was gone. It was ridiculous. I waited for 15 minuted after dinner and the waiter came and said my order had gone to someone else.
So I waited about another 10 minutes and no oysters. I got up and paid my bill. Lousy service - I had to ask a waiter to get waited on after a long wait. This place struck out on so many levels.
So I am back in the van. Wasn't too hard getting the bed back in it. Will be nice not to have to deal with the raccoons! Hope to be on the road between 8:30 a.m. and 9a.m. - New Orleans here I come!
Overall I would give this place a solid 9 - it was lovely. Great shower facilities, nice staff, wonderful privacy - as far as a public campground goes. I felt very safe and secure here - there is a gate that closes at night and you can only get in with a personal code they give you when you check in. The location here is close to so many fantastic beaches. Can't wait to come back!
