Enjoy the magic of living here!

Home: Welcome

Well, hello again! I just reviewed my posts from 2019 and 2020. By the end of 2020 there wasn’t much to write about as Doug and I self-quarantined. Being house-bound tied my hands and kept me from going out and conducting interviews.

Fortunately, the imminent Covid threat has lessened and schools and businesses are slowly coming back. We are now in the last full week of May 2022 and this coming weekend is Memorial Weekend.

It’s been a lovely May, for the most part, after a winter that didn’t want to quit. We had more snow in April than in January and it was getting pretty irritating. I have made plans for next April and will fill you in on that later!

With the advent of new chapters that are coming to this blog, I will be including a little more commercial information. I dearly loved writing about the area’s new businesses and will be picking up these stories right here.

There was a surprising amount of new growth during a very difficult time in our country. Even now we are still struggling with some of the economic fallout. Perhaps the most destructive fall out for we locals were the masses that fled the cities and gobbled up residences and land in our precious St. Germain. This is all I will say about this matter.

So, onto the business at hand. And that business is Cira’s Red, White, and Brew Bar. For those who have lived in or regularly visited St. Germain for a long time, this is the former New Twilight. And ladies and gentlemen, this place is a full-flushed, knock-down, five-star hit!

Rhi and Adam Cira took ownership of what was then the Bullpen this past fall. In fact, they began staffing the bar in September and news spread fast there were new people taking over. Not just new, but really nice people, hard working people including Heidi, Kim, Morgan and Paul.

To add to the attractive nature of this new ownership, Rhi and Adam are veterans, a fitting follow-up to much-missed New Twilight owner, Steve Pulec, who was also a veteran.

In fact, I am so smitten with this place it was my inspiration to get back blogging! The new features that the Ciras have brought to this long-time favorite pub have surprised and delighted everyone who frequents this place.

Generous portions and fresh, high quailty ingredients make for lip-smacking meals!

First of all, the food is top notch. The menu is extensive with unique and delicious menu items. There is no chance of getting bored as there are new entrees frequently popping up. The same goes with the beverage selections. New creations add sparkle to the libations list and local breweries and distilleries are showcased.

Soul Child is just one of several live music events held at the Red, White and Brew

A drink in your hand and listening to a great band in a comfy seat. Does it get any better?

Then there is the live music which is featured three nights a week. And this isn’t even high season yet! The outdoor venue is first class with comfortable seating, a fire pit, enchanting night lighting. Rumor has it music will be on a new outdoor stage. Stay tuned!

The Red, White and Brew staff and patrons took part in stocking the Vilas County Foster Closet in February. Then Rhi rewarded those who particpated in making donations! Fun Party!

Rhi is very anxious to become a part of the St. Germain community and her patrons will

agree, she's off to a great start! Looking for a place to celebrate a holiday or popular calendar event? You can bet your bippy there is something happening at the Brew to honor the day!

Whether you are a long-time fan of this location or you are visiting for the first time, be ready for a fun, delicious and thoroughly welcoming experience!
