Spiffed up the campsite a bit after a leisurely breakfast of good New Orleans coffee and apple fritters. I made my way to the campground showers a bit hesitantly, afraid of what I would find. No fear - it was a spacious, immaculate room. That made all the difference.
One of the young men who works here came by to measure the seat on my picnic table. I never expected him to be so quick! I took off for the beach in Gulf Shores and figured I would have good seating when I got back.
First thing on the agenda was to look for some Confederate souvenirs for Doug's projects. So I stopped at the BIG DADDY of souvenir shops - Souvenir City. But no such luck. I found a couple of seaside items for the bedroom and bathroom. I also took some pictures of signs that I would like to make at the Blank Canvas.
By now it was time for lunch. Right behind the souvenir shop was the Steamer Baked Oyster Bar. It was right across the street from the public beach and was a cute place. Most reasonable prices so far. A dozen oysters was $12.99. I got six for $6.99 and a bowl of gumbo for$6.99. Mondavi Cabernet was $4.99. Not bad.

From there I headed to The Gulf. It has great seaside seating and with buying a drink I could sit there as long as I wanted and get my Eliason blog done. Which I did - just had to add a picture, proof and post.

Next stop was a seafood market for dinner. I found one that had great prices on shrimp - like $10.99 for the colossal size shrimp. I bought a pound of the 26-34 size for $6.99 and they couldn't have been fresher - the fisherman poured them into the display as I watched. Sold! I also got a 1/2 pound of scallops for tomorrow night that I will wrap in bacon and grill!
Headed home and as I expected I had new seats on my picnic table. I promptly sat down and finished my blog. As I started to prepare dinner - seasoned shrimp and brown rice, the guy in the trailer across from me came over to chat. He told story after story while I made my dinner and left as I prepared to eat.
So here I am blogging away again still marveling at how much fun I am having. Tomorrow I am going o pack a lunch and head for the beach. I will finish my Eliason blogs when I get home next week.
Well looks like I will be able to watch some TV before I conk out tonight. Heard things were pretty nice up north today! Keep it up - the less snow the happier I will be when i get home next week!
Good night all and sweet dreams!!
