No pictures from today - it was all driving. This picture was my site at Big Lagoon State Park. The one I just left I just as soon leave that to my memories - it was pretty small and ugly.

I made the decision to skip taking 65 home and chose to travel 45 to 55 to 57 to 51/39. Man, was that the right move! 45 is four-lane and very, very little traffic until to you get to northern Mississippi/ southern Tennessee. There the traffic did pick up some but moved right along.

It is strange how unpopulated the highways along Mississippi are. But they are very treed and pretty. It even smells good! The strangest thing I saw along the road was a shop the advertised "Custom turkey calls". ???? Turkeys have particular calls they like?

At any rate, I am staying in Jackson, Tenn. tonight at a Days Inn. Love my Wyndham rewards! I forwent the camping thing on the way home for the sake of expediency. Plus I can get rooms for about the same price as camping.

Looks like tomorrow night I will be staying in Bloomington, unless I get super ambitious. The way I feel right now, I really doubt that I will. Then it is on to home for Wednesday. Unless something super fabulous happens tomorrow - the next time you will hear from me is at home.

Good night all! Sweet dreams!

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter. It was a glorious morning here. Families going off to Easter egg hunts, brunches and family get togethers. I was going to go to an Easter event at one of the popular restaurants here but the handicap parking was gone. That took care of that.

So instead I went for one final visit at my fav beach - Johnson beach at Gulf Island National Park. I was the busiest I had ever seen it but still wasn't overwhelming.

The water was beautiful today!

I took a picture of the busiest part I saw - it was so peaceful!

After a few hours I was getting hungry so I headed back to Gulf Shores. Tonight's dinner was at Bubba's Seafood Restaurant. What could I order but oysters? It is going to be quite a while before I get them again!

Bubba's - I think I was here a very long time ago ,,,

Still not ready to leave the beach, I went to the main public beach in Gulf Shores. I sat on the bench and took some pictures with my Fire tablet. If they are any good I'll add then to this tomorrow. I was going to stay until sunset but I could see the sun was going behind condos, not the water.

Back to the campground! I plugged all my electronics in and then started to pack up. It didn't take very long and when I was done it was back to watching the Ten Commandments. A few of the folks stopped by to wish a Happy Easter and a safe trip home. They said they hoped to see me back but I don't think that will happen.

Back up north tomorrow. I plan to travel to Jackson, TN tomorrow and Ottawa, IL Tuesday night and home mid-Wednesday p.m. Fingers crossed!

Time to sign off and shut down for the night! Sweet dreams!

A couple of ducks came by to share beignets.

It was an early start this morning and thought hitting the shower early was a great idea. From there I went down the road to Cafe Beignet and got a couple of orders to go. Back at the campsite I made my French Roast coffee and loved every second of my southern breakfast. As you can see, I had couple of visitors. That is not a camera angle shot. That female was four times the size of the Mallard. Anyone know what kind of duck she is?

My early start gave way to a brief nap and then it was time to get moving to the Zydeco/ Crawfish Fest. I got a great parking place and met up with George, crawfish-side shortly.

It smelled soooo good!

Sacks of Mudbugs!

The line moved along pretty quickly and George, not impressed with the amount of work required to chow down, went and got a spectacular bowl of fruit and granola.

Delicious!

While I was totally into this event and dove into my tray of crawfish. A lot of work for a little food, but, what the heck!

It looks like a lot but you throw away most of the crawfish and eat just the tails.

George headed home but I found a shady spot to sit and enjoy the music.

Shade under palm trees!

You can't see them but the band is in this stage area.

After a couple of hours I headed out to the store to buy my replacement extension cord. Back at the campground I had a couple of cocktails, talked to some fellow campers and watched some of the Ten Commandments (which I hope to finish watching tonight) and made dinner. Ron from the site across the street came over and we chatted and he gave me a couple pair of earrings that a friend of his made that he sells. Pretty darn nice. I think he felt bad about the theft.

So kids, that was today's events. It was a beautiful day and tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 70s. It's going to be a perfect Easter!

Hope you all are having a great evening, Good night for now and sweet dreams!
